Stockton Bukkyo Taiko is an affiliate organization of the Stockton Buddhist Temple. The group was founded in 1990 by Reverend David Matsumoto to help practice Buddhist teachings in a fun manner. Although some taiko players are church members, the public is welcome to join the group.

Taiko has been part of the Japanese culture for over two centuries. Modern taiko is played by an ensemble and combines rhythm, movement and spirit. The term taiko means “big drum” in Japanese.
